We’re back on a new Monday, albeit with the same old ceasefire in effect. Last week’s deadline for the U.S. and Iran to find common ground passed with no resolution. The deadlock we described a week ago in the “No Pressure Ceasefire” largely remains unchanged, with the U.S. and Iran not making it to another round of talks in Islamabad. While Trump had emphasized that last week’s deadline would see no extensions, we ultimately saw one emerge, with the explanation that it would give Iran’s “fractured” leadership time. Trump noted that:

Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured ... we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal.
