The Dividend Kings performed poorly again in October, marking two consecutive months of negative returns while the S&P 500 kept adding positive gains. On average the Dividend Kings declining by 3.67%, underperforming the SPDR S&P 500 ETF ( SPY ) by a whopping 6.06%. This sour trend has reversed in November thus far; SPY is down 3.38% through the 21st, while the Dividend Kings, collectively, are up 1.83%. This recent reversion in performance brings down the year-to-date gap between SPY and the Kings to 10.24% (+12.36% vs. +2.11%)....
