CI Global Asset Management Announces Confirmed Annual Reinvested Capital Gains Distributions for the CI ETFs
MWN-AI** Summary
CI Global Asset Management (CI GAM) has announced the confirmed annual reinvested capital gains distributions for its exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for the 2025 tax year. These distributions, set to be reinvested on or around December 31, 2025, will consist of capital gains and excess net income accumulated throughout the year. Unitholders recorded as of December 30, 2025, will receive these distributions, which will be reinvested automatically rather than paid out in cash, leading to immediate consolidation of units held.
Investors in non-registered plans must note that these distributions will have applicable tax implications, impacting their adjusted cost base. The confirmed distributions replace earlier estimated amounts communicated on December 2, 2025, and comprehensive details regarding the actual taxable amounts—including tax characteristics—are expected to be disseminated to brokers via CDS Clearing and Depository Services Inc. early in 2026.
A range of CI ETFs are affected, each with varying distribution amounts. Notably, the CI Galaxy Blockchain Index ETF (CBCX) is set to distribute $10.80 per fund unit, representing a substantial 25.12% distribution yield. Other funds such as the CI Balanced Growth Asset Allocation ETF (CBGR) and CI Digital Security Index ETF (CBUG) also exhibit healthy distribution rates of $0.90 (3.32%) and $2.06 (6.41%), respectively.
CI GAM, a prominent investment firm in Canada, has been operational since 1965, focusing on delivering a broad spectrum of investment solutions to meet diverse financial goals. As a subsidiary of CI Financial Corp, CI GAM serves over 1.3 million investors through meticulous portfolio management and innovative investment strategies.
MWN-AI** Analysis
CI Global Asset Management (CI GAM) recently announced its confirmed annual reinvested capital gains distributions for its exchange-traded funds (ETFs) set for December 31, 2025. This announcement provides critical insights into the performance of various CI ETFs and presents strategic opportunities for investors.
Capital gains distributions, particularly in the context of CI GAM, underscore how the underlying funds are managing their performance amid prevailing market conditions. For instance, the CI Galaxy Blockchain Index ETF (CBCX) displayed a robust capital gains distribution of 25.12%, suggesting strong performance driven by the underlying blockchain assets. Investors should consider such ETFs as potential candidates for capital appreciation in their portfolios.
Additionally, funds like the CI Digital Security Index ETF (CBUG) and the CI Galaxy Multi-Crypto Navigator ETF (CMCX) have also highlighted significant distributions of 6.41% and 27.62% respectively, pointing towards positive asset management within the high-growth cryptocurrency space. Given the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies, investors need to evaluate their risk tolerance before engaging with these funds.
On the other hand, several bond ETFs, such as the CI 1-5 Year Laddered Government Strip Bond Index ETF (BXF) and CI Canadian Aggregate Bond Index ETF (CAGG), reported minimal distributions, which may reflect current challenges in the fixed income market caused by rising interest rates. Investors seeking stability might want to temper their expectations in these areas and explore other fixed-income opportunities to balance their portfolio.
Overall, the latest distribution announcements present a mixed but insightful picture of market opportunities. Investors are encouraged to assess each fund's performance relative to their investment goals and risk appetite, considering the re-investment strategy and future capital gains potential as key factors in their decision-making process.

CI Global Asset Management (“CI GAM”) announces the confirmed annual reinvested capital gains distributions (the “Reinvested Distributions”) for the 2025 tax year for the CI ETFs listed below.
Each of the CI ETFs is required to distribute net income and capital gains earned during the year. The Reinvested Distributions will generally consist of capital gains and/or any excess net income at year-end. The Reinvested Distributions will not be paid in cash but will be reinvested and the resulting units immediately consolidated so that the number of units held by each investor will not change. Investors holding units outside registered plans will have taxable amounts to report and will have an increase in the adjusted cost base of their investment. In all cases, these distributions will be reinvested on or about December 31, 2025 to unitholders of record on December 30, 2025.
These confirmed amounts are for the Reinvested Distributions only and replace the previous estimated amounts announced on December 2, 2025. The actual taxable amounts of all distributions for 2025, including the tax characteristics of the distributions, will be reported to brokers (through CDS Clearing and Depository Services Inc. or “CDS”) and will be posted on www.ci.com in early 2026.
