Thesis
The Nicholas Fixed Income Alternative ETF ( FIAX ) is a fund we started covering a year ago, when we went into detail in respect to the fund structure and composition. At the time we stated the following:
A retail investor, however, needs to understand the ETF is taking equity risk factors in order to generate fixed income returns. The equity risk has capped downside and upside, but could also represent a drag on performance if the market moves against the fund. FIAX represents an alternative in the space as long as the managers deliver on the market risk taken.
