Fidelity National: Solid Q3 With Building Bank M&A Tailwinds (Upgrade)

Shares of Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. ( FIS ) have been a very poor performer over the past year, losing 30% of their value. Ongoing concerns about long-term growth in the payments sector, amid competition from fintech players, have weighed on sentiment. FIS has also faced pressure from past M&A deals, and potential regulatory hurdles around a planned asset swap have also negatively impacted shares. That said, investors received some good news on Wednesday when the company reported stronger-than-expected results. I last covered shares in August , when I rated the stock a “ H old,” given slow growth but a fair valuation. In hindsight, I should have rated FIS a "S ell" given its 12% drop. With updated financials, now is a good time to revisit Fidelity National....
