Working up and down the AI supply chains, I am coming across a wide range of new companies that can be intriguing. After dealing with Applied Materials ( AMAT ) and the key role it plays in atomic-precision equipment manufacturing for the semiconductor industry, I have recently learned about a company that attracts a lot of interest: POET Technologies Inc. ( POET ). Let me say it right away, we are in small-cap territory, since the market cap of the company is currently $588M. The company has been around for many decades (it was founded in 1972) but has changed several names and became POET in 2013. It is headquartered in Canada, but it is listed on the Nasdaq. In 2017, POET started focusing on lasers for data communications applications, and a few years later, it decided to be a "fab-light" company, as it recently explained , signing agreements with a couple of important manufacturers in Malaysia....
