Intel Corporation ( INTC ) stock has gained more than 200% this year before paring some of its momentum this week, making it one of the top 10 most expensive stocks in the S&P 500 ( SP500 / SPY ) and Philadelphia Semiconductor Index ( SOX ) this year at about 110x estimated earnings. While the upsurge shows a powerful recovery story, Intel’s underlying premium has become increasingly difficult to justify based on the resurgence of CPU momentum or still-unproven Foundry turnaround alone.
