EVSX Enters Into A Joint Venture With Voltrinov To Expand EV And Micromobility Battery Processing Capacity
(TheNewswire)
Montréal, February 26, 2026 -TheNewswire – St-GeorgesEco-Mining Corp. (CSE: SX) (OTCQB: SXOOF) (FSE: 85G1) ) announcesthat EVSX Corp., its wholly owned subsidiary, has entered into a joint venture with Voltrinov, a re-generativeenergy company, to jointly evaluate end-of-life electric vehicle andmicromobility batteries for repurposing or for processing andrecycling.
Voltrinov will provide technical expertise to assessbatteries for repurposing and will discharge and dismantle end-of-lifebatteries at its St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Québec facility.EVSX will process end-of-life batteries at its Thorold, Ontariofacility, thereby producing black mass, through shredding and materialseparation, enabling the recovery and resale of components back intothe supply chain in Ontario and Québec.
The black mass will be processed at Voltrinov’shydrometallurgical refining facility in Québec to producebattery-grade minerals, which will subsequently be reintroduced intothe battery manufacturing supply chain, supporting a closed-loopcircular economy model.
The joint venture is expected to create new full-timepositions in Québec, expand repurposing evaluation and processingcapacity, and strengthen participation in Québec’s batteryecosystem. The contribution of technical expertise by St-GeorgesMetallurgy allows for continued research and innovation with access togovernment support programs aimed at advancing circular battery valuechains and critical minerals recovery.
Ian C. Peres, President and CEO of EVSX commented:“The battery recycling market has seen a recent reduction inprocessing capacity serving Québec and Eastern Canada. This jointventure combines the processing strength of EVSX with the solidtechnical expertise of Voltrinov in the evaluation of repurposing and second-life deploymentopportunities and ultimate processing ofend-of-life batteries”.
Jean Jacques Le Roy, President of Voltrinov commented:“This joint venture is a concrete step tostrengthen Québec’s circular economy in battery processing. Bycombining Voltrinov’s expertise with EVSX’s processing capacity,we can keep more end-of-life batteries managed locally andresponsibly, while supporting Québec objectives, with volumescontinually growing”.
The joint venture addresses regional capacityconstraints following the withdrawal of recent battery processorsserving Québec and Eastern Canada. This shift creates an opportunityfor specialized operators to jointly manage the increasing volumes ofEV and micromobility batteries to be repurposed and/or end-of-lifeprocessing, while maintaining regional processing capacity andadvancing Québec’s circular economy objectives.
