When Governments Need Bulletproof Networks, They're Calling This Company

Japan is in the midst of one of the most ambitious national infrastructure modernization pushes in the developed world. With its Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications publishing a Digital Infrastructure Development Plan targeting 2030, prioritizing AI integration, network security, and next-generation connectivity, the country is actively sourcing proven, cyber-hardened networking technology capable of upgrading aging systems without the cost and disruption of tearing out existing copper infrastructure. For specialized suppliers with established in-country relationships, the timing couldn't be better.
Shares of Actelis Networks, Inc. ( Nasdaq: ASNS ) are gaining Wednesday morning after the company announced it has received a significant order from a Japanese governmental entity for its MetaLight networking solutions to support critical civil and defense infrastructure modernization across Japan.
Actelis is a market leader in cyber-hardened, rapid-deployment networking solutions for IoT and broadband applications, serving government, military, transportation, utility, rail, and campus network customers globally. The company's MetaLight family delivers ruggedized, cyber-hardened Ethernet-over-copper connectivity, essentially fiber-grade performance over existing copper wiring, allowing agencies to modernize networks rapidly without the expense or disruption of new fiber installation.
The order, placed through Actelis' established Japanese channel partner and distributor, covers dozens of MetaLight units to be deployed across a range of critical infrastructure environments. Applications span civil infrastructure including transportation networks, utilities, and public safety systems, with potential extension into defense-related installations. The company has previously supplied solutions for highway and rail systems throughout Japan, making this order an expansion of an already proven footprint in the Japanese public agency market.
CEO Tuvia Barlev framed the win as validation of the platform's positioning at the intersection of security and operational practicality. "Governments and defense-adjacent organizations in Japan are increasingly prioritizing secure, rapid-deployment networking for their most critical assets," said Barlev, adding that Actelis' ability to deliver fiber-grade performance over existing infrastructure, combined with its cyber-hardened architecture, makes it the natural fit for customers where reliability is non-negotiable.
The order arrives as Japan's broader digital infrastructure ambitions create a sustained procurement tailwind for vendors already embedded in the market. With civil and potentially military applications on the table and an established distributor relationship driving the channel, Actelis appears well-positioned to deepen its presence as Japan's 2030 modernization window opens.
Shares of ASNS are up 70.2% to $0.64 in Wednesday late-morning trading.
