Consensus Expectations - Near The 2% Target
The U.S. BLS is set to release the February CPI inflation report on March 11th. The consensus expectations are:
- The core CPI to increase by 0.2% MoM, which would be less than 0.3% MoM in January, and keep the annual core CPI unchanged at 2.5%, and
- The headline CPI inflation is to increase by 0.2% MoM, unchanged from January; however, due to base effects, this would push the annual CPI down from 2.5% to 2.4%.
