PIMCO High Income Fund ( PHK ) is a closed-end fund ((CEF)) that aims to generate an annual return of around 12%, paid monthly, by investing in the riskiest tranche of credit globally. When you invest in this vehicle, you are buying a global high-yield portfolio actively managed by the PIMCO management team. This portfolio is designed to carry a level of leverage that will achieve the high returns sought. For an income-oriented investor, the appeal of this portfolio is obvious, as you receive a very high coupon without having to select any securities.
