COMEX silver futures reached a record $50.36 per ounce high in 1980 and a lower $49.82 peak 31 years later in 2011. After falling to a low of $11.64 in 2020 when the global pandemic gripped markets across all asset classes, the second-leading precious metal made higher lows and higher highs, finally eclipsing the 1980 high and critical technical resistance level in October 2025. Silver futures reached even higher highs in November and December, with the price moving close to $60 per ounce at the most recent $59.90 peak.
